⚠️ Adams Rite Deadlatch Not Retracting?

⚠️ Adams Rite Deadlatch Not Retracting?

If your Adams Rite deadlatch is not retracting properly and your door isn’t locking automatically, you’re not alone — this is a very common issue in many buildings using original Adams Rite systems.

🔍 Possible Causes:
• Lock is dry and needs lubrication — focus on the mechanical lock, not the electric strike (spraying WD-40 on electrical components will void the warranty)
• Door is too tight — no clearance for the latch
• Quebec weather affecting door alignment and performance
• Misaligned strike preventing proper latching
• Door closer not pulling the door fully closed
• HVAC air pressure issues — common in restaurants or apartment buildings with double vestibules (positive or negative pressure)
• Door may not be straight, causing bottom protection to hit the strike first, blocking latch operation
• If using RCI U65 low-profile electric strike, latch alignment must be in the middle; misalignment can stop latch operation

⚠️ Tip: If the issue is caused by air pressure, contact an HVAC technician. They can install or adjust a pressure control/switch to balance the building pressure.

We specialize in repairing, adjusting, and servicing all Adams Rite deadlatches to ensure your doors lock smoothly and securely.
