Over time, the rear mounting screws or other components can loosen. Eventually, the lock can shift and the key can become stuck inside the lock.

🛠️ WHEN A WORN MEDECO MORTISE LOCK STARTS ACTING UP
Eventually, repairing individual components may no longer make economic sense.

📜 IMPORTANT: MEDECO IS A PROTECTED KEY SYSTEM
Medeco keys are not ordinary hardware-store keys.
Depending on the system, authorization/certification is required to obtain and duplicate protected keys.
This is one of the reasons Medeco provides strong key control — but it can also make replacement locks and additional keys more expensive and less readily available.
